Help finding socks?

Hello everyone,

At last, I find a site to get some feedback from other lymphededema sufferers! My husband has primary lymphededema of the right leg, and the beginnings of the same in the left. He has suffered with this for 25 years. His leg is bigger now than it has ever been and I'm desperately trying to find socks for him. He has to go barefoot a lot and it really embarrasses him. We have tried the "diabetic" socks that are out there, and none of them are large enough to fit his 28 - 30" calf. Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips? My last resort is trying to sew some for him; but I'm not the world's best seamstress.

Does he just need like a regular pair of "gym" socks or do they have to have some kind of compression?
