Bandages at work

Postby aries6 on Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:18 am

Any discussion or suggestions on the wearing of bandages on a daily basis? What I'm getting at is finding the write clothing to wear with these arm bandages is tedious. I'm finding that I have to wear oversized clothing if I want to cover them. In 90 degree temparatures, this is the least desirable.

Hi aries6,

First i would like to welcome you to the forum! We are glad you joined us.

I would suggest you talk to your therapist and see if you could wear a daysleeve at work. They are very slim and breathable so you will not get so hot.

What bandages are you currently wearing (how are the layered), we could examine the wrap that you use and maybe switch out a padding for a lighter more breathable one.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you for your response.

While I haven't been to the therapist since November, because of insurance limitations, she applied and recommeded the Comprilan stretch bandages. I wear the gauze sleeve; 6, 10 and 12cm Comprilan, from hand to shoulder. Sometimes I wear 4 bandages. I also wear a Juzo glove with the 6cm starting at the base of the fingers. She also uses either foam or a cotton type protection.

I just can't wear all of this in 90 degrees.

Hi, aries,

Bandaging is a pain and quite cumbersome. I only bandage at night while I sleep. During the day I wear a Juzo compression stocking. It's lightweight and not as hot and wears well under all clothing. I live in Arizona and right now the temps are around 110 degrees! So nothing is cool enough to wear@#!

Good luck. Go to http://www.foryourlegs.com - You can find any and all compression garments and at a discounted rate.
