Give away

Post here for the month of June.

Give away

I could use some new bandages. Comprilan 6, 10 and 12, or glove.

Also, what do you know about Kenetic Tapeing. Not sure about the spelling.

The bandages we would give away would be lymphedeBand (similar to Comprilan and Rosidal K).

Kinesio Tex Tape (dont worry it is Japanese that is why it is spelled weird) is relatively new to the lymphededema field. The tape can be applied on the skin in a manner that causes a massage-like skin movement that directs lymph away from an area. When placed over areas of fibrosis, the lifting action and increased movement of skin also assists in softening these tissues. However it is more difficult to apply effectively to yourself without help.

I find the kineseotape brilliant. My arm has improved enormously since I've been using it though it does cost a lot. It costs me about £28 per month but its well worth it for the benefit it gives. My husband helps me and we find it only takes about five minutes to do both the hand and the arm once I've cut the relevant strips. The application lasts a good week, as long as you wear a latex long glove over the hand whilst bathing or doing any mucky jobs. Makes hair washing a bit awkward but manageable.

As it's quite costly buying stuff each month I'd love to win some free bandages.

Anne,
Thanks for the info. Did your therapist recommend this process to you, and did your insurance company give you any grief?

 I think this is a great section, if there are any bandages available I have a support group member in need of anything anyone has to offer, she cannot afford therapy and we are getting a how to bandage video to her as soon as we can.

Thanks! Tina
